Abstract

Marketing planning and control are critical elements that contribute to the success of manufacturing organizations by ensuring that marketing activities align with organizational goals and market demands. This study investigates the effectiveness of marketing planning and control in manufacturing organizations in Buea, Cameroon. The research aims to evaluate how these processes influence overall business performance, market competitiveness, and customer satisfaction.

A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Qualitative data were gathered through interviews with marketing managers and executives from selected manufacturing companies in Buea, providing insights into their marketing planning and control processes. These interviews focused on areas such as market analysis, goal setting, budget allocation, and performance monitoring. Quantitative data were collected via surveys distributed to employees and customers to assess their perceptions of the effectiveness of the company’s marketing efforts and its impact on operational success.

The findings indicate that marketing planning and control are essential to the operational success of manufacturing organizations in Buea. Effective marketing planning allows companies to identify market opportunities, tailor their products to meet consumer needs, and position themselves competitively within the market. The control processes help ensure that marketing strategies are executed as planned, and necessary adjustments are made in response to changing market conditions. Companies with well-structured marketing planning and control systems reported better performance outcomes, including higher sales volumes, improved market share, and enhanced customer loyalty.

However, the study also reveals challenges such as limited resources, inadequate market research, and difficulties in monitoring marketing activities due to the dynamic nature of the manufacturing sector. These challenges often hinder the full implementation and effectiveness of marketing planning and control in some organizations. The study suggests that a more data-driven approach to marketing, combined with continuous evaluation and adaptation, could enhance the effectiveness of these processes.

In conclusion, marketing planning and control significantly contribute to the effectiveness and success of manufacturing organizations in Buea. Companies that prioritize structured marketing processes and actively control their marketing activities are more likely to achieve sustainable growth and maintain a competitive edge. Future research could focus on exploring specific control mechanisms and their impact on long-term business sustainability in the Cameroonian manufacturing sector.
