Abstract
Cameroon General Certificate of Education Board was created in 1993 by a presidential degree after several struggles of mass rallies and school boycotts. The study is set out to investigate what causes ethical practices, what can be done to speed up the process of ethical management at the Cameroon GCE Board. Also, the present study is set out to assess the extent to which ethics has been respected in the management of the GCE board, to examine the measures that have been put in place to see that ethical conduct is being prioritized during management and also to evaluate whether ethical conducts have improved performance and productivity, we make used of three hypotheses. The two main theories used in this study are: Human Relation Theory of Elton Mayo developed in the (1920s) and System Theory of Von Bertalanffy developed in (1964). A sample population of 100 workers was used to test the hypotheses through the use of questionnaires and interview. Data was analyzed using simple statistics with the use of percentages, frequencies, tables, charts. The hypotheses were tested through the use of Chi square. The study found out that there exist significant respects of ethics by the management. Also, the researcher finds out that significant ethical conduct can led to improvement in performance and productivity of workers.Based on the findings, it is recommended that top management should consider developing ethics training programs that will help educate the employees and all the other workers of the board on the importance of ethics. Secondly the GCE Board should incorporate highly effective measures of ethics.Since it has been proven by our result that respect for ethical standards leads to high performance and productivity, every organization should set as its objective ethical codes of conduct that will always guide them in their operations. This will help them to achieve their goals very effectively within a very short period of time.
