Abstract
This study examines the effect of advertising and sales promotion on sales volume in companies located in Buea, Cameroon. In a competitive business environment, companies continually seek effective strategies to boost their sales and market share. Advertising and sales promotions are two key marketing tools that can significantly influence consumer behavior and drive sales. This research aims to understand how these tools impact sales volume and to what extent they contribute to the overall business performance of companies in Buea.
The study adopts a quantitative approach, gathering data through structured questionnaires distributed to 200 consumers and 50 marketing managers from various companies in Buea. The questionnaires focused on consumer responses to different advertising channels (such as TV, radio, online, and print media) and sales promotion techniques (such as discounts, coupons, and product bundling). The study also analyzes sales data from these companies to assess the correlation between promotional activities and changes in sales volume.
The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between advertising and sales promotion efforts and the sales volume of companies in Buea. Consumers reported that they were more likely to purchase products that were heavily advertised or offered as part of a sales promotion. The study shows that television and online advertising are particularly effective in reaching a broad audience, while discounts and coupons are the most successful sales promotion techniques in driving immediate purchases.
Furthermore, the research highlights that consistent and well-targeted advertising can lead to long-term sales growth by building brand awareness and consumer trust. Sales promotions, while effective in generating short-term sales spikes, are most successful when combined with ongoing advertising campaigns that reinforce brand messaging.
The study also identifies challenges faced by companies in Buea, such as the high costs of advertising and the potential for sales promotions to erode profit margins if not carefully managed. Despite these challenges, the overall impact of advertising and sales promotions on sales volume is overwhelmingly positive.
In conclusion, the research underscores the importance of a balanced marketing strategy that integrates both advertising and sales promotions to maximize sales volume. Companies in Buea are encouraged to invest in diverse advertising channels and strategically timed promotions to enhance their market presence and drive sales growth.
