Abstract
This study examines the impact of feasibility studies on the success of electrical construction projects, focusing on the case of ENEO Cameroon and its contractors in the Fako Division, South West Region. Feasibility studies are critical in assessing the viability, risks, and potential of construction projects, influencing their overall success. This research aims to evaluate how the implementation of feasibility studies affects project outcomes in terms of efficiency, cost management, and project completion.
A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative analysis of project performance metrics with qualitative insights from interviews with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders involved in electrical construction projects. The study analyzed key components of feasibility studies, including technical, financial, and operational assessments, and their impact on project planning and execution.
The findings reveal that comprehensive feasibility studies significantly contribute to project success by identifying potential risks and challenges early in the planning phase. By addressing technical and financial aspects, feasibility studies help in optimizing resource allocation, reducing unforeseen costs, and ensuring that projects adhere to timelines and budget constraints. In the case of ENEO Cameroon, effective feasibility studies have led to improved project outcomes, including timely completion and enhanced quality of electrical installations.
Additionally, the study highlights the role of feasibility studies in facilitating better communication and coordination among contractors, clients, and regulatory bodies. Clear and detailed feasibility reports enable stakeholders to make informed decisions, align project objectives, and address potential issues proactively. This collaborative approach enhances project efficiency and minimizes the likelihood of conflicts and delays.
Despite these benefits, the study also identifies challenges related to the implementation of feasibility studies. These include inadequate data collection, limited scope of analysis, and the need for continuous updates throughout the project lifecycle. Addressing these challenges is essential for maximizing the effectiveness of feasibility studies and achieving project success.
In conclusion, feasibility studies play a crucial role in the success of electrical construction projects by providing valuable insights into project viability and risk management. For ENEO Cameroon and its contractors, thorough and well-executed feasibility studies have proven to be instrumental in ensuring successful project outcomes. The study recommends that organizations invest in comprehensive feasibility studies and address implementation challenges to enhance project performance and success.
