INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are advanced applications that aim to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transportation and traffic management. These systems are designed to improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of transportation networks. In recent years, ITS has gained significant attention globally due to its potential to transform the transportation industry.
Bamenda Town, located in the North West Region of Cameroon, has a population of over 500,000 people. The town is experiencing rapid urbanization, resulting in an increase in traffic congestion and a rise in the number of accidents on its roads. The safety of passengers using public transportation in Bamenda is a growing concern, and there is a need to implement effective measures to improve the security of passengers.
1.2 Problem Statement
The increase in traffic congestion and the rise in the number of accidents in Bamenda Town have highlighted the need for innovative solutions to improve the safety of passengers in public transportation. The current transportation system in Bamenda Town is inefficient and poses a significant risk to passengers, with cases of theft, assaults, and accidents being reported. Therefore, there is a need to explore the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to enhance the security of passengers in public transportation.
