Motivation In taking the programme

1. Personal Experience: My Personal experience as an individual  motivated me to study development studies due to personal  exposure to social injustices, Gender based violence and development challenges. Picking this programme as a field of study will give me firsthand knowledge and how to bring about a significant transformation.
2. Career Opportunities: Development studies provides a diverse range of career opportunities, both in the public and private sectors, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, international agencies, research institutions, and consulting firms. The prospect of pursuing a rewarding and meaningful career in the field can serve as a significant motivation. 
3. Desire for Positive Impact: Development studies provides individuals with the knowledge, skills, and tools to make a tangible impact on communities and societies. My motivation is to study and have the opportunity to make a difference and create positive social change are drawn to this field.

Expectations after completion of the program.

1. My personal expectation is  to be able to create positive impact , have an unshakable career in the field with the knowledge acquired.
2. Family motivation: making them proud and pouring back into their lives.

The problem 

The insufficient state of mental health services in Buea and the surrounding region poses a significant challenge to development. The lack of infrastructure, limited availability of professionals, stigma, and inadequate support systems contribute to the worsening mental health crisis. To foster development and well-being, there is an urgent need for improved access to quality mental health services, increased awareness, and the establishment of a comprehensive support network that addresses the diverse needs of individuals and communities affected by mental health conditions.

My innovative solution 

My innovative solution is starting up a mental health clinic called Healthy-minds organization that will offer its clients with consultations, treatment, counseling and therapy sessions for both individuals, groups and families. Reduce stigma in the community and encourage help seeking behaviors when faced with mental health issues.
