 Definition of internship
According to Shodhganga (2008) an internship is on-the job training for many professional jobs similar to an apprenticeship. Most often, internships are taken by university students as a requirement for the award of a first degree or to enhance their formal education and expose them to the world of work. Internships are therefore regarded as an aspect of educational formalities that aids to integrate theoretical work with practical.
Internship programs provide first hand learning experience to the intern. Through internship programs, the intern acquires more knowledge of the job and learns or sharpens the needed skills, attitudes and values associated with efficient performance of their job. With the help of internship program, the intern gets opportunity to start a carrier in his preferred work area. Also, the benefits of internship can not only be attributed to the fact that it is part of a university requirement to the intern, it goes a long way to create a good network between the intern and the employer of the organization where the internship was carried out.  Internship: An on-the-job process of learning carried out by the intern to put in practice what he has been taught in the class room.
 Importance of Internship Employees nowadays lay much infancy on work experience during their recruitment process. This leads to a lot of difficulties to some persons who don’t have any experience at all in that domain of activity. For this reason, there is a saying that goes thus “you need experience to get experience” in line with this saying, internship therefore holds the following as significance:  Adds value to your CV: CVs are often required when applying for a job, where the applicant is required to fill in necessary information about him and work experience, your internship will obviously add more credit to your CV in terms of working experience hence, high chances of being selected.  An opportunity to know more about yourself: with the aid of internship, the intern has high chances of knowing practically what he is capable of doing and also assist in bringing out those hidden talents embedded within the intern.  It provides real life experience and Exposure: During the internship, the intern goes beyond just answering questions on pieces of papers but does the work in real life, hence exposing him to all the practical parts of his profession.  Gets you connected and develops your professional network: with the help of internship, the intern gets to know those who are already in the field hence increasing his chances of being connected and to get a job easier.
 Objectives of Internship Internship mainly is one of the formalities needed for the award of a Bachelor Degree and similar to any other on-the-job training, has its own objectives which are deemed necessary to be

attained by the intern so as to ascertain him as per the aspect of internship training, qualified for the award of the degree. The specific objectives of the internship are thus set as follows:
– To integrate theory with practical – To learn how to interact with people specially those having different cultural background and way of life – To acquire professional skills and understand the ethics relating to the work environment. – Understand the nature in which activities are coordinated in the various departments of an organisation towards achieving their main objective. – To contribute in one way or the other, useful information that can assist for better function of the organization.
