ABSTRACT
This study examines the effect of leadership practices on organizational performance, with a focus on Eneo Cameroon’s Buea branch. Effective leadership is crucial for driving organizational success, influencing employee motivation, and achieving strategic goals. This research aims to evaluate how different leadership practices at Eneo Buea impact the company’s overall performance.
A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews. Surveys were distributed to employees and managers at the Buea branch to assess their perceptions of leadership practices and their impact on performance. Key areas of focus included leadership styles, decision-making processes, communication effectiveness, and support for employee development. Interviews with senior management provided insights into leadership strategies and their perceived effects on organizational outcomes. Relevant literature on leadership practices and organizational performance was reviewed to provide context.
The findings indicate that leadership practices at Eneo Buea significantly affect organizational performance. Positive leadership practices, such as clear communication, supportive management, and participative decision-making, were associated with higher employee satisfaction and better performance outcomes. However, challenges were identified, including inconsistent application of leadership styles and lack of effective feedback mechanisms. Some employees reported feeling disengaged due to limited involvement in decision-making processes and insufficient support for career development.
The study concludes that leadership practices have a substantial impact on organizational performance at Eneo Buea. Recommendations include enhancing leadership training programs, improving consistency in leadership practices, and fostering a more inclusive decision-making environment. By addressing these areas, Eneo Cameroon can improve employee engagement, operational efficiency, and overall performance.
