Abstract

This study examines the effect of organizational culture on organizational effectiveness at the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) in Buea, Cameroon. Organizational culture, which includes shared values, beliefs, and practices, plays a crucial role in shaping how efficiently an institution operates. A positive culture fosters collaboration, innovation, and productivity, while a negative or rigid culture can hinder progress and reduce overall performance. The effectiveness of an organization is directly influenced by how well its culture aligns with its goals.

The research uses a case study approach, gathering data through employee surveys and interviews with management at CNPS Buea. It focuses on key elements of organizational culture, such as leadership style, communication practices, employee involvement, and attitudes toward innovation. The study evaluates how these cultural factors contribute to or hinder the institution’s effectiveness, particularly in achieving its objectives and maintaining high service standards.

Preliminary findings suggest that a supportive and open organizational culture at CNPS Buea significantly enhances its effectiveness. Employees who feel valued and involved in decision-making processes exhibit higher levels of productivity and job satisfaction. However, areas where hierarchical structures dominate show reduced efficiency and slower decision-making. The research also highlights the importance of clear communication and leadership in fostering a culture that aligns with organizational goals.

In conclusion, the organizational culture at CNPS Buea has a notable impact on its effectiveness. A culture that encourages participation, innovation, and open communication leads to better performance outcomes. Recommendations include promoting a more inclusive culture, enhancing communication channels, and aligning leadership practices with the institution’s mission. By doing so, CNPS Buea can improve its organizational effectiveness and overall service delivery.
