Abstract

The integration of educational technologies in higher education has significantly transformed teaching and learning processes, with implications for students’ academic performance. This study investigates the impact of educational technologies on the academic performances of students at the University of Yaounde I. Through a mixed-methods approach, the research examines the extent to which digital tools, including e-learning platforms, multimedia resources, and interactive software, contribute to students’ academic success. The study draws on data collected from surveys, interviews, and academic records, providing a comprehensive analysis of how these technologies influence learning outcomes. The findings suggest a positive correlation between the use of educational technologies and improved academic performance, particularly in terms of increased engagement, enhanced understanding of course materials, and better time management. However, the study also identifies challenges such as the digital divide, insufficient training for both students and faculty, and the lack of infrastructure, which hinder the full potential of these technologies. The research concludes that while educational technologies have the potential to significantly enhance academic performance, their effectiveness is contingent on addressing these challenges and ensuring equitable access for all students. The study provides recommendations for the University of Yaounde I to optimize the use of educational technologies by investing in infrastructure, offering training programs, and promoting inclusive practices. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on educational technologies and their impact on academic performance in higher education, offering insights that can inform policy and practice at the University of Yaounde I and beyond.
